Driver Distractions: Is your Mobile Phone putting you at risk?
Driving with distractions is not a new concept for drivers, but it has always been a concern.
According to the Road Safety Authority, distracted driving could be a factor in as many 20-30% of all collisions in this country. This means that driver distractions could be a contributory factor in over 1,400 fatal and injury collisions over the course of a year.
Subsequently, despite the fact that using a mobile phone while driving is a potential threat to killing many people on Irish roads, people still continue to text, make phone calls, take selfies or update their social pages while driving.
In an effort to help educate drivers and increase awareness of the dangers of distracted driving, RSA have released several campaigns and have conducted surveys focusing on the effect of mobile phones on driving performance and road safety.
